Registered Gas Installers
What are registered gas installers?
Registered gas installers are installers who are qualified to a minimum level, and are therefore considered competent to carry out work on gas appliances in Ireland. Registered gas installers hold a minimum of a GID (Gas Installer Domestic) qualification, hold insurance, and have paid a subscription fee in order to appear on the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland (RGII)
Do registered gas installers work for the RGII?
Registered gas installers are separate entities from the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland (RGII). As such, the RGII does not govern any of their trading practices – registration on the RGII simply ensures that the engineer is competent to carry out gas works. It doesn’t ensure that you won’t get shoddy service. When choosing a registered gas installer to carry out your gas works, be sure to compare a few companies and seek advice from friends and family, as well as independent reviews online.
Why should I use registered gas installers?
Using registered gas installers means that you can feel safe in the knowledge that your gas appliances are in good hands. A gas boiler in the wrong hands can be incredibly dangerous, and as most of us know very little (or nothing) about how gas appliances work, using an RGII registered gas installer takes the worry out of gas appliance repair and servicing.
How do I find registered gas installers?
If a gas installer is registered on the RGII, it will say so on their website or other promotional material. However, it is important to check that this information isn’t forged, especially in the case of companies you may never have heard of before. The RGII website has a database of all registered gas installers in Ireland, allowing you to check that your gas installer is legit – or even to help you find local registered gas installers in the first place.
How do I find a reputable company to carry out my gas appliance service, repair or installation?
As we’ve already mentioned here, a gas installers registration on the RGII doesn’t necessarily mean you will get a good deal, or good service for your money. Gas Services has a team of highly competent RGII registered engineers who will get the job done right – and at the right price. If a company is offering gas appliance works at a vastly reduced rate to other companies, you can be almost completely certain that they won’t be offering work at the same standard. Gas Services have a large client base of satisfied customers in Ireland, and for good reason – not only do they provide registered gas installers, they provide excellent customer service too. In addition to this, Gas Services also hold a vast amount of boiler parts in stock, meaning that your repairs can be carried out quicker.
