Do You Need a Gas Boiler Plumber?

Just as we thought the warm weather was definitely here to stay, the cold weather has nosed its way back in! Power Supply to Your Boiler

Sounds obvious, but this is an easy one to overlook when in the heat (or no heat) of the moment. It could be the fuse in the boiler, or it could be the mains circuit board switch which has tripped. This will just need pushing to the correct position.

Boiler re-set button

Another easy one, but you’d be surprised how many people forget to check this and then have to pay for an unnecessary plumber callout fee. Most boilers come with the reset dial on the front. Simple push the dial to the reset position, hold for a couple of seconds, and then place back in its normal position. If you’re unsure how to do this, check the manufacturer’s instructions.

Mains Gas Supply

Before you start panicking that your gas boiler is truly broken and requires a gas boiler plumber, check that there is mains gas supply to your home by testing other items such as your gas cooker or fire. If there isn’t, give your gas supplier a call.

Gas Boiler Pressure

The pressure gauge (normally on the front of your boiler next to the reset button), should be sitting between one and two bars. If it’s below 1 or completely in the red zone, then you have to pressurise your boiler. Do this by turning on the water valves on your boiler until the bar moves up to 1. Always check the manufacturers instructions if you’re unsure.
