How To Improve Boiler Efficiency

Multiethnic Arms Raised Holding Text Efficiency

What if I told you that on average 25% to 30% of your heating bill is going up the chimney due to an inefficient boiler?

At best a boiler runs at around 85% efficiency. On average however most boilers have an efficiency of just 60% to 70%.

Your home heating bill is one of your most expensive household bills. A way to reduce this cost is to improve boiler efficiency.  If your boiler is old or hasn’t been serviced in awhile than you can be sure that it is simply burning money.

Should I Get A New Boiler?

If your boiler is over 15 years old then a new model is worth some serious consideration. The constant maintenance of an older boiler can really add up, not to mention the ever increasing heating bills.

There are some great new models on the market that have an excellent efficiency rating. Yes it will be an investment but if it’s costing you money and effort to get the old one repaired then a new boiler is the logical solution.

We know that a new boiler is not what you want to be spending your money on so if you do need a new one we aim is to identify a high efficiency replacement that will need the least amount of changes to your existing pipe work.

This way, we keep the replacement costs as low as possible. If it’s a case that your boiler can be repaired then we can do that for you. We stock a huge range of parts which mean that 80% of the time, we can fix the problem with one call out.

Should I Get a Boiler Service?

If you have ruled out a new boiler as an option, then another option is to have your boiler serviced. A regular boiler service will increase your boiler efficiency while also saving you money on your bills.

Manufactures recommend that you get your boiler serviced once a year. Of course the lower heating bills are great but another reason to get your gas boiler serviced once a year is to protect from carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Prevention is always better than cure: by having your gas boiler and gas appliances correctly installed in good ventilated areas, properly repaired and serviced annually by Registered Gas Installers (RGI) the risks of been exposed to CO poisoning are reduced.” – RGII.

It’s illegal for anyone other than an RGII registered gas installer to either service your boiler or install a new one. When choosing a company to service your boiler then make sure you ask to see proof that they are indeed registered with the RGII. We are fully registered.
